The Savannah breed derives from the original crossings of a serval to a domestic cat. The serval is the smallest of the large cats of Africa and is found in the savannas or plains of Africa. It can also be found in mountainous regions as well. It is a tall, lanky cat with large ears, a long neck, and a short tail. The Savannah, in spite of its exotic heritage, is considered a domestic breed.
Considered the largest domestic cat breed, the Savannah has a tall and slim build. The male Savannah tends to be slightly larger than the female, with the early generation males weighing up to 25-30 pounds. This is not considered the norm, as Savannahs weigh, on average, around 10-15 pounds.
Permits are not needed to own a Savannah. You should check with your province to find out which generation Savannah is legal to own. Savannahs require no special care beyond the care you would give a domestic house cat. They make ideal house pets, getting along well with other pets and children.

Affectionate & Outgoing
Bold yet friendly, confident and inquisitive, interactive and playful, affectionate and outgoing.
Exotic & Unique
The Savannah is the largest hybrid cat breed. They range from 10-25 lbs...but because of their tall, lanky body type, even the lightest weight Savannah appears much larger and heavier than it actually is.
Curious & Adventurous
Savannahs are an extremely intelligent, high energy breed. They are curious, adventuresome, playful and crave interaction.
